Thanks to Bill R "bnr40" from bikeforums.net for the awesome catalog info and specs. The bike retailed for $375 back in 1988. According to the bike's serial number (s/n: FI111087), it was built in September 1987 as a 1988 model. In its current condition as I bought it last week, it came with 2 accessories, the Spoke disc and wheel reflectors. Now I don't feel so bad spending $200 2o years later. :) According to the spec sheet, the SP was the Special Performance model, "top-of-the-line" model of Fuji road bikes in 1988.
