Mustang Sally Restoration: Engine removal

Poppi is making quick progress with Sally's engine removal. Today he continued the work to unattach all the accessories and connections to the pushrod 302ci so it could be hoisted out. Here's a pic of it strapped up and ready to be yanked!

Here it is hanging from the hoist. Shorty headers are well used. Spy the Crane Cams sticker on the valve cover which came from the 1.7 ratio rockers.

This next one shows off the 69 year old's selfie taking skills. LOL haha It gives a view of the garage, F100 in Thunderbird scheme hanging from the rafters. The Hechtspeed hot rod shop doubles as a Hangar for air planes too.

Here is the Ford Racing steel billet flywheel. It's actually heavier than stock. Why? Inertia for those drag launches! Just showing the condition of the surface after probably 150k+ miles of street and strip usage.

Here is the other half of that equation. The Ford King Cobra clutch, about 1/2 worn and a few hot spots per the "inspection record".

A quick run to the Autozone to pick up some degreaser, new NGK plugs and an exhaust hanger for the X pipe. Let's see how well this degreaser works eh...

Well, slow progress. Gonna need to scrape and wire brush the 28 years of grime off! That's it for today! Stay tuned...
